Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis told French magazine ‘Nouvel Observateur’ that by accepting the terms of the 3rd Greek bailout plan the country had essentially entered a path of exiting the Eurtozone, a day before Greek PM Alexis Tsipras announced snap elections.
He continued by underlining that the Greek government had ‘betrayed the trust of the Greek people’. The self-proclaimed ‘radical marxists’ made it clear that he did not intend to run for election with a party whose platform was based on implementing the July 13 agreement.
On his future in politics he said he would remain active, adding that the issues of debt and austerity would have to approached on a European level. “If no European movement emerges focused on democratizing the Eurozone no European people will see better days”, he ends.
