Two new polls show draw

SYRIZA on the down...

Two more polls saw the light Friday night in Greek media, both of which predict a close battle between the two major political forces, left SYRIZA and conservative New Democracy.

According to the poll conducted by MRB for television station Star Channel, the fight is expected to go down to the wire, as the voting intentions of the electorate indicate a tie for both SYRIZA and New Democracy with 25.1%. Golden Dawn received 6% of the vote; 5% of the respondents said they intended to vote for the communist KKE party; 4.6% for To Potami; 5.2% for PASOK, 3.6% for Popular Unity; and ANEL 3.2%. In the leaders’ popularity New Democracy leader Evangelos Meimarakis had 34.8% favourable opinions compared to Alexis Tsipras’s 34.3%.

 Macedonian University for Skai TV

Another tie is predicted by a University of Macedonia poll for Skai TV. According to the findings SYRIZA and New Democracy gained 27% each in the intention of voting followed by Golden Dawn with 6.5%; KKE with 6%; 5.5% for To Potami; Center Union and PASOK with 4.5%; newly formed Popular unity with 4%; while ANEL fails to enter Parliament with only 1.5%.
