Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas on Friday called on Korean bussinessmen to invest in Greece speaking at the 2015 Greek-Korean business forum which was held at the Evgenidio Institute in Athens/

Addressing Korean businessmen, Mr. Mardas underlined that Greece has made structural reforms, a fact that makes it very attractive to foreign investments.

The shipping sector, as Mr. Mardas stressed, constitutes a privileged field for cooperation. Indicative of the sector’s dynamic is that 25 percent of the total orders for shipbuilding is made by Greek shipowners.

Apart from the shipping domain, he focused on the infrastructure sector (ports, airports, marinas) which are sectors on which Koreans could invest.

Mr. Mardas made a special reference to tourism where cooperation can be further developed underlining that a major problem for the tourist flows from Korea to Greece is the lack of direct flights to Athens.

As for Korean exports to Greece, he said that they reached 1 billion euros while the Greek exports to Korea are moving upwards.

In his intervention the Korean ambassador to Greece Young-jip Ahn referred to the close relations of friendship between the two countries and highlighted that the cooperation can be boosted in the economy sector particularly in farming products as olive oil, wine and others that could be imported to Korea.
