German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said that Greece has ignored the rules of the Dublin Regulation that obliges migrants to file for asylum in the first country of the European Union. Speaking to Germany’s “Bild am Sonntag” newspaper, he said Greeks should not place the blame for their problems on others but should, instead, see how they should better themselves.

“It’s certainly not the lack of support in Europe that is missing, but the structural reforms that will make the country competitive,” he said.

In contrast to his stand on Greece, Schaeuble is more compromising when it comes to coming up with compromise solutions with Eastern European countries that are hesitant in accepting refugees on their territories. “Solidarity doesn’t begin with the exchange of insults. Eastern European states should also take in refugees, however less than those of Germany,” he said.
