The two refugees from Syria who frogmarched a suspected paedophile Afgan refugee to police in Idomeni migrant camp told MailOnline how they took action after hearing the screams of the seven-year-old girl he is accused of trying to rape.
As they told the newspaper, Mohammed Al-Mulhem and Dldar Sedo were sitting at the camp when they heard someone screaming. They rushed to a secluded woodland behind a row of temporary toilets as the girl’s father shouted ‘he’s trying to rape my daughter’.
They found the Afghan refugee with the girl in a state of undress. “We immediately grabbed him and started kicking him” they said.
They said that the Afghan man had taken the little girl behind the toilet and by the time they got there he was trying to remove her T-shirt and trousers.
‘We all heard the screams. People wanted to kill him but we said no, it’s not our job to kill him. We are in a civilised country and we need to let the police take care of this.’ Dldar Sedo said.
‘I felt angry because the girl was my nationality,’ added Mohammed Al-Mulhem.
‘I travelled from Syria with a group of friends and relatives, and I’m always the man who protects them. We didn’t let anyone beat him or kick him.’
In a sequence of extraordinary photographs, Mr Sedo and Mr Al-Mulhem can be seen leading efforts to bring the suspected paedophile to justice as they kept him out of reach of the baying mob after Thursday’s incident.
They are seen leading the man a mile through the camp, while other migrants attempt to beat him, to give the man to the Greek police.
