President of main opposition New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis lashed out at Prime Minister and leader of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras in the beginning of his speech on the parliamentary debate on justice issues.

Among other things, he accused Alexis Tsipras of being the main responsible for the tragic situation in which the country is.

“In this debate you are accused of your lies,” Mr. Mitsotakis said addressing to the Prime Minister, while he insisted that “in a normal democracy, the functioning of judicial system should not be an issue to be discussed in the parliament”.

“You’re not the accuser but the accused in this debate for the worst lies ever uttered by a prime minister.” Mr. Mitsotakis went on to say that for Tsipras “the end justifies the means”, adding that all he cares about is staying in power using any means available.

Mr. Mitsotakis also accused SYRIZA of having appointed relatives and friends in public positions adding: “You systematically fight excellence, perhaps because you cannot stand it, but nor does excellence stands you”.

He also criticized the “so-called humanism” of the Left, saying that it has “crumbled in the muds of Idomeni”.

Mr. Mitsorakis also called on Tsipras to resign stressing that the cost Greece pays from the SYRIZA-led government is higher than the one to replace it. “Since you cannot govern, there’s only one beneficial decision you can take: To resign. To leave before you destroy the country,” he said, adding that Tsipras has already led Greece to elections three times without a real reason.

“Now there is a national reason. Greece cannot tolerate you any longer. And as this parliament, as it seems, cannot provide the solution, let the people provide it. The cost of keeping you in power is higher than that of the process to remove you,” he added.
