The US Pentagon plans to send 10 Guantanamo Bay detainees to 2 countries, according to a US official. The transport is expected to start in the immediate future while the remaining prisoners will be gradually also transferred to other countries within the upcoming weeks. Tariq Ba Odah, a Yemeni who has gone on a hunger strike for some time is among those being transported out. Currently there are 91 prisoners held at the Guantanamo Bay prison facilities. US President Barrack Obama plans to shut down the compound before his term ends, despite strong opposition by US Congress members.
