The privatisation of the former airport at Hellinikon, which has caused great controversy due to the harsh criticism the ruling government of SYRIZA had come under because of  its negative stance on the deal, seems to be entering its final stages.

Following the announcements made by government spokesperson Olga Gerovasili, Tuesday morning on the matter, official announcements of the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the government and the developing company of Lamda Development of the Latsis Group are expected later Tuesday.

According to sources, the MoU will act as an appendix to the initial contact that had been signed last year. Gerovasili said the new document will include some improved stipulations (more green areas, less buildings etc).
