The German media focused on the statements made by Greek PM Alexis Tsipras regarding the WW2 reparations and the forced Nazi loan owed by Germany, which Greece intends to claim. Tabloid newspaper ‘Bild’ argued the German government outrightly rejects any claims of legitimacy to the claims stressing the matter was settled during the London 1953 debt agreement, while Athens contends that the forced Nazi loan on the Greek government of the time and the reparations are two separate issues. ’There seems to be no end to the dispute’, comments the paper. ‘Handelsblatt’ reports that the German government considers the matter non-existent, while German magazine ’Der Spiegel’ reported that Greece is demanding hundreds of billions from Germany in reparations from WW2 for the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany. Greek PM Tsipras said the country would pursue a diplomatic course and a legal one to find vindication during his speech at the village of Komeno, near Arta in western Greece on occasion of a memorial event for the victims of Nazi atrocities.
