A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the house of a member of Parliament in the Kabul, Afghanistan, leaving the way open for two more assailants to enter. The security forces intervened and a fierce battle followed that lasted almost all night. According to Afghan police sources the operation ended only this morning.

The two attackers were neutralized but, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the two grandchildren of the MP were also killed during the attack.
