Sleeping is one of the most important things we will do in our lives and it’s important that we get plenty of quality sleep. Getting enough sleep has a huge number of benefits and a lack of deep, restful sleep causes serious health problems. These facts are fairly common and fairly well known.
But did you know that you can get additional benefits when you sleep in the nude? It’s true! Take a look at the top 12 reasons you should go commando tonight!
1. It Leads to Better Sleep
Sleeping nude means no shirts or tops getting twisted every time you turn over, no drawstrings to get tangled or pulled on, no pants to get turned around or pulled too far up or too far down, none of those annoying things to interfere with your sleep means you will sleep better! You don’t need to read a scientific study to know that deeper, more restful sleep means you will feel better and be healthier.
2. You Will Feel More Free and Happier
Close your eyes right now and you can imagine what it would feel like to be lying in your bed, soft, warm, and naked between the sheets. You’re smiling, aren’t you? Just thinking about it makes you feel good already; imagine what actually doing it will feel like? No underwear to bind your legs, no bra to cut into your shoulders, just you sandwiched in between two soft sheets. Everyone likes that kind of feeling and it might just make you feel happier overall in all aspects of your life.
3. It Can Help Your Marriage
Seriously! If you are living with a significant other, or if you are married, sleeping with your partner in the nude will allow for skin on skin contact, whether you are cuddling or just sleeping with your arm around their stomach. This type of contact leads to more sex, and all of these things lead your body to release huge amounts of a neurotransmitter called oxytocin, which makes you feel good feelings and think good thoughts. Who doesn’t want to feel better about their partner?
4.  Keeps You More Active
Some people get off work, get home, and change right away into their PJ’s. Or on weekends they just stay in their PJ’s until they have to leave the house. Forget going to the gym; forget going for a walk after dinner, once they are in those PJ’s, they simply don’t want to do anything but veg in front of the TV or their laptop. PJ’s can lead to a more sedentary lifestyle, which is not a healthy thing. Sleeping in the nude means that you will keep on your regular clothes until you go to bed so you might go out more often and that, friends, is a good thing.

Cortisol is a strange hormone in the body and it can do all kinds of things, and not all of them good. Sleeping naked keeps your body temperature at more optimal ranges so your body can make better use of cortisol and control its production of it. When people sleep in warmer temperatures their cortisol levels tend to stay high, even after they wake up. Higher levels of cortisol can lead to junk food cravings, weight gain, increased anxiety, and many other terrible things. Avoid all these complications by sleeping in the nude so that your body can have better control over your cortisol levels.

Sleeping naked will let your body breathe! All of it! Finally, your feet, underarms, private areas, and armpits, that are usually covered and constricted all day long will finally be able to air out, dry out, and breathe! This can lower the risk of skin diseases, vaginal infections, and athlete’s foot.
7. It Can Balance Your Melatonin and Growth Hormones
Keeping your sleeping environment below 70 degrees at night will also help your body regulate other important hormones such as melatonin and growth hormones. These are vital processes that help prevent ageing, help you to sleep better, and are essential to your good health. Sleeping in PJ’s keeps your body warm and prevents these hormones from being effective. Another way to think of this is that sleeping with clothes on will make you grow older just that much faster.
8. Summertime Sleeping is Much More Bearable
Summertime means much warmer nights and it can sometimes be tricky to get good sleep. If you don’t have air conditioning, you will find sleeping in the nude with a fan will make you much more comfortable. In fact, even if you do have air conditioning you might find that without PJ’s and using only a fan, you might not need to turn that A/C on and you can save some bucks on your electric bill!
9. Makes Your Sex Organs Happy
Ladies, sleeping in cooler temperatures and more airy conditions can help prevent those irritating yeast infections. Gentleman, sleeping in the nude allows your testes to stay at cooler overall temperatures and this will keep your sperm happy and your overall reproductive system working normally. Men, if you are trying to have a baby, sleeping in the nude might be all you need to improve your sperm count.
10. Improve Your Self-Esteem
If you have problems with your body image, sleeping in the nude might help you learn to accept yourself and love yourself just the way you are. Start by looking at yourself naked in the mirror every night before bed. You might not like what you see at first but after a short time, you should become more accustomed to how you look without clothes and you might even come to love the way you look.
11. Improves Your Circulation
UGH! Is there anything more annoying than that elastic waist cutting off your circulation or that twisted sleeve that cut off your circulation and caused your entire arm to fall asleep? Remove all those clothes and you have a happy flow of blood throughout your body!
12. It’s Just Plain Easier
Seriously, think about it, sleeping in the nude is just easier. No pajamas to buy (saves money), less clothes to wash (saves money), fewer health problems (saves money), and no time spent shopping for new PJ’s. Take all that money you will save and spend it to buy some luxurious new bed sheets.
Now, of course, there are times when PJ’s are helpful. When you are sick or it’s extremely cold, then of course, PJ’s do their job. But, let’s face it folks, for the most part, pyjamas are seriously overrated.
