Which countries have the most time zones? (infographic)

It is not the one you think it is

Newsroom January 18 07:52

If you were to ask someone which country has the most times zones in the world then the majority would probably pick Russia with its vast landmass, stretching from Europe in the west to Japan in the east. But interestingly, France has more time zones than Russia despite the difference in size between both countries. Overseas France consists of all French-administered territories outside continental Europe such as French Guiana, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe and Réunion. People living in these and other French administered regions overseas have French nationality as well as the right to vote in elections for the European Parliament and French presidency.

The Russian Federation spans 11 time zones from Kaliningrad to the Kamchatka Peninsula. The United States also has 11 time zones, covering unincorporated territories such as Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The UK has nine time zones thanks to its overseas territories and they encompass places such as Bermuda, Montserrat, Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands.
