The Hellenic Navy and Coast Guard are on alert as reports as Turkish fishing boats have gathered in the Dardanelles straits and are moving in international waters towards the Libyan Sea.
According to early reports, there were about 120 boats that have been gathering, however, VCost Guard sources near the islet of Zourafa, in Samothrace, there are about 10 vessels.
The Greek authorities are vigilant and are monitoring the voyage of the Turkish boats, as in the past Turkish fishermen had entered into Greek territorial waters in Mykonos citing strong winds as the pretext.
In any case, according to sources in the Greek Ministry of Shipping, this is not the first time that a large number of Turkish fishing vessels has gathered in the Aegean, as Turkish law prohibits fishing in Turkish territorial waters from April 15 to July 15.
