Newsroom August 9 12:31

Four people were killed in Euboea as a result of the severe weather by the Thaleia storm that has hit Greece over the past 2 days.

The third fatality is an 8-month-old baby. According to a report by Skai radio, the family of the unfortunate baby who lost his life was in the area for vacation, while so far no other information has been made known about the tragic event.

Unconfirmed information in the meantime speaks of a fourth dead. According to what ERT broadcast, the 4th victim is a 39-year-old man in the Bourtzi area.

The bodies of two elderly people were recovered from their homes in Politika, Euboea, which was flooded by the downpour that inundated the area last night, especially Psachna, Politika and Lefkandi. They are an 86-year-old woman and an 85-year-old man, who were trapped in their homes where they were found unconscious. Firefighters continue to release people trapped in their homes, where in many places the water has reached more than 1.5 metres.

The Fire Department has received more than 150 calls for the release of people and continues to receive, despite the fact that the rain has stopped. “Two dead have already been recorded, an 85-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman who stayed in different houses, were trapped and lost their lives,” said the mayor of Dirfion Messapia, George Psathas.
