Traffic disruptions on provincial roads in Central Macedonia

The continuous and intense rainfall of recent days has caused significant traffic disruptions on provincial roads across Central Macedonia.

In Halkidiki, severe water accumulation has been reported, while five other locations in the provincial road network remain closed:

The traffic restrictions that were to be implemented tonight on the Thessaloniki ring road have been lifted

  • The Olynthos provincial road (from the 1st to the 7.5th kilometer of Moudania – Sithonia)
  • The Ormylia – Vrasna provincial road
  • The Megali Panagia – Gomati road
  • The Agios Pavlos – Nea Gonia road
  • The coastal road between Gerakini and Kalyvia

Meanwhile, Imathia is also facing severe flooding, as overflowing streams have cut off traffic on the Veria – Lazochoi and Makrochori – Tagarochori routes.

In Thessaloniki, the basement of the 2nd Special Vocational High School, located near Macedonia Airport, has flooded. Firefighters rushed to the scene to pump out the water.
