Greek Foreign Minister Dendias proposes he lead a humanitarian mission to Mariupol

Greek diplomacy is in contact with the Russian and Ukrainian governments

Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias proposed he lead a humanitarian mission to the citizens trapped in the besieged city of Mariupol.

The Ministry proposed the initiative to transport humanitarian aid to the city’s civilians.

According to sources, the Greek proposal is being formulated in cooperation with the International Red Cross and will be attempted to be implemented in consultation with the Ukrainian and Russian governments.

To this end, negotiations between Athens – Moscow, and Kyiv are expected in the coming hours and days.

In case the warring parties accept Athens’ proposal for the transfer of Nikos Dendias, as head of the mission that will transport humanitarian aid to Mariupol, the trip will take place in the following days after the return of Nikos Dendias from New Delhi.
