The richest Greek for 2022 is… female with a fortune of 7.4 billion dollars, according to the revised Forbes list of the richest people in the world.

Her name is Vicky Safra and is the widow of the mighty banker Joseph Safra. The Greek woman, of Jewish roots, is the 321st richest person in the world, having inherited her husband’s huge fortune, who passed away in December 2020.

Lebanese-born Joseph Safra was considered Brazil’s richest man, with a wide network of banks on three different continents. The couple had four children, who have inherited a total of $ 7.1 billion.

The 60-year-old billionaire, who has Greek and Brazilian citizenship, was born in the early 1950s in Brazil. She got married in 1969 at the age of just 17 , while today lives permanently in Switzerland .

The Forbes list includes three more Greeks

Aristotelis Mistakidis is in 822nd place with a fortune of 3.6 billion dollars. Telis, as he is widely known, for many years was the head of Glencore, one of the largest copper industries in the world. In 2018 he resigned from his position, however until today he holds 3% of the shares. In 2021, the Greek billionaire acquired a stake in Piraeus Bank.

Filippos Niarchos, son of Stavros Niarchos, follows in the 1,096th position of the list, with a fortune of 2.8 billion US dollars, while the family of Vardis Vardinogiannis follows in the 2,076th position, having assets worth 1.4 billion dollars, coming mainly come from Motor Oil, but also activities in Egypt, shipping and finance.
