A large fire broke out on Friday afternoon near the Geneva airport in Switzerland.
In videos posted on social media, thick black smoke can be seen coming out of a building.
The smoke quickly spread to the wider area of the airport and an aircraft almost went through the smoke to land.

Shortly afterwards, authorities were forced to suspend or divert all flights to and from Geneva airport.

An airport spokesman told AFP that the building, which was engulfed in flames, was outside the perimeter fence.

This is a building intended for the reception of asylum seekers and work was being carried out when for an unknown reason a fire broke out.
Other videos posted on social media show a powerful explosion occurring.
