Red Adidas T-shirt, dark brown eyes, a stylish short haircut. Salahuddin B. (27) looks like a normal young man. But that can change in seconds!
The rejected asylum seeker has been before the Dortmund Assize Court since Wednesday because of attempted murder in two cases, dangerous bodily harm and resistance to law enforcement officials. He is sick and should be permanently in the closed psychiatric ward.
“He suffers from a paranoid hallucinatory psychosis. He is dangerous for the general public,” says prosecutor Henner Kruse (50).
The Afghan native first attracted attention on December 7. According to the application, he rushed into his boss’s office with a kitchen knife and followed him with a fire extinguisher until he was stopped by an employee. Three days later the knifeman came back – but failed because of the locked glass door.
Bloody deed after morning prayer
On February 2nd, 2022, he apparently went completely nuts. After morning prayers at 8 a.m., he entered the mosque on Uhlandstrasse. Co-plaintiff representative Henriette Lyndian (57): “He greeted my client normally, then stabbed his stomach with a knife.” The victim (32) suffered serious defensive injuries on his hands. The moment of fear of death still bothers him to this day.
Two and a half hours later, when patrol cars were looking for the mosque attacker, B. was walking with an acquaintance (24). Suddenly he is said to have rammed the knife into his stomach on a sidewalk. Kruse: “The puncture wounds in the abdominal area injured the liver, an artery and the small intestine. His life could only be saved by an emergency operation.”
The victim was in the hospital for three weeks. Lawyer Birgit Schwipp stands by the victim. She says: “To this day he still cannot understand why B. did this to him. He hopes to get an answer to this question in the process.”

Officials also attacked
After the attack on his boss, Salahuddin B. (tolerated in Germany since May 12, 2017) was admitted to the forensic hospital. However, he was later able to release himself from there.
After his arrest, the mentally ill perpetrator could not be contained: he punched the police doctor in the face, and when the arrest warrant was issued, four law enforcement officers had to hold him down.
He’s apparently doing better now. In court, only his leg twitched constantly, he followed the process attentively. The verdict is expected on August 29.
