Murder attempt against Salman Rushdie, the author of “Satanic Verses”, in New York (videos)

The author was airlifted to hospital with stab wounds. His health condition is not yet known

Newsroom August 12 07:20

Author Salman Rushdie was attacked with a knife by a man in New York.

Islamists have issued a fatwa against him because his work is considered a blaspheme for the Islamic religion.

Rushdie was to speak Friday at an event at the Chotocqua Institute, about 75 miles south of Buffalo, New York State.

The Associated Press reports that the attacker jumped onto the stage during Rushdie’s introduction and stabbed him.

The author fell to the ground and the perpetrator was immobilized and arrested.
