Fisherman, 21, found dead in Sifnos

A preliminary investigation is underway by the Sifnos Port Station

A 21-year-old underwater fisherman was found dead in Sifnos.

Specifically, on Wednesday evening the Port Authority of Sifnos was notified by an Employee of the Municipal Port Fund of Sifnos, about the drowning of a person who was doing underwater fishing, in the sea area “PLATI GIALOU” South of Sifnos.

A private boat with officers from the Port Authority on board immediately went to the spot, where they located the 21-year-old local underwater fisherman at a great depth.

Afterward, a coastguard patrol boat with divers on board went to the spot and retrieved the body of the 21-year-old, which was taken by boat to the local fishing shelter, from where he was picked up by an ambulance and transported to the Sifnos Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
