Russia can only achieve its goals through military means, Peskov said

Peskov said Russia did not recognise the Hague Court's jurisdiction

Newsroom March 14 01:18

Russia’s goals in Ukraine can only be achieved through the use of military force, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, TASS news agency reported.

“We must achieve our goals. At the moment this is possible only by military means because of the current position of the Kyiv regime,” Peskov commented.

Russia claims that the war in Ukraine was fought to “liberate” the Russian-speaking people in eastern Donbas from the neo-Nazi, as it characterizes, Kyiv regime. However, Ukraine and the West are talking about an unfounded pretext to justify the war.

Moscow blames Kyiv for the collapse of talks on a possible ceasefire. In any case, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made it clear that he will consider a peace deal after Russian troops have previously withdrawn from Ukrainian soil.

On the International Court of Justice at The Hague

Peskov was also asked about the reports that want the International Criminal Court in The Hague to soon seek the issuance of the first arrest warrants against Russians connected to the invasion of Ukraine, he replied that Moscow does not recognise its jurisdiction.

“We do not recognise this court, we do not recognise its jurisdiction,” Peskov said.
