Greek military officer suddenly collapsed and died during training camp

The tragedy happened in Xanthi

A 49-year-old officer who was serving in the Xanthi Unit, suddenly died, inside the camp, during training.

The captain was immediately administered first aid by the Unit’s doctor. Afterward, he was transferred to the General Hospital of Xanthi, but due to the deterioration of his health, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the General Hospital of Kavala, where he died.

The General Staff of the Army released a statement about the death of the officer: “During the afternoon hours of Thursday, March 30, 2023, Captain A.A., aged 49, who was serving in the Xanthi Unit, lost consciousness while inside the camp, during the afternoon training.

He was immediately administered first aid by the Unit’s doctor and was immediately transported accompanied by medical staff to the Xanthi General Hospital. Due to the deterioration of his health, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the Kavala General Hospital, where he passed away in the morning hours of Friday, March 31, 2023.

The causes of the incident are being duly investigated. The General Staff of the Army expresses its sincere condolences to his relatives.”
