Greek Elections Debate: The “dress rehearsal” before the elections

Experts insist that the public's judgment of the presence of political leaders is usually based on "technical" details like if they can answer in their given time

The one – and only, in these elections – debate between the political leaders takes place on ERT since 9 pm.

Both Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the leaders of the opposition parties are coming to the debate with the aim of appealing to wider audiences, despite the fact that the rules set at the Inter-Party meeting make it difficult to see surprises.

The last televised debate at the level of political leaders took place eight years ago.

Experts estimate that an important role for the leaders’ “points” will be played – apart from the positions they will present – by the correct answers within the predetermined time, which gives an element of reality to an otherwise strict process: the question from the journalist should not exceed 30 seconds and the leaders’ answers 1.5 minutes, with the possibility of an extension of 15 to 45 seconds and in any case the maximum limit will be three minutes.

An experienced executive comments that the “secret” to the success of a debate for every political leader is not to make any mistake.
