The blocks of the third Greek frigate “Formion”, built at the Salamis shipyards, arrived today, Thursday 15 February, from Greece to the Naval Group’s shipyard in Lorian, France, where they will be assembled for the next steps of the frigate’s construction.
It is worth noting that the arrival of the parts was ahead of the schedule set for the implementation of the project.
The arrival of the parts was announced by the manufacturer Naval Group, which also published the relevant photos from its shipyard in Lorian, France.
“Thanks to favorable winds, the blocks built at the Salamis Shipyards of the #FDI Formion, destined for the Greek Navy, arrived early at the Lorient shipyard! The blocks will be placed in the dry dock next to the FDI Nearchos frigate,” it said in its post.
As it is known, “Formion” is the third Greek frigate Bellhara built by Naval Group after “Kimon” and “Nearchos”

The plan for the participation of Greek companies was launched in March 2022 at the start of the FDI program and “contributes to the construction and support of the FDI HN frigates and to the creation of a strong naval industrial ecosystem in Greece beyond the FDI program.”
Greek companies are integrated into Naval Group’s supply chain and are already able to participate in other programmes and future international competitions, increasing their capabilities as well as their economic benefit and visibility in the global naval defence market.
