These are the most expensive shoes in the world – Which ones cost $20 million! (pics)

Many designers and many brands make huge efforts to create the most expensive and luxurious shoes - Their high prices are sometimes due to unusual reasons

Newsroom February 21 11:08

Shoes are no longer just a necessity; they have become a symbol of status and wealth. Some of the world’s most expensive shoes have precious stones on them to attract wealthy customers, but others are expensive for reasons other than the luxurious materials.

Designers justify the high prices of expensive shoes by incorporating elements such as rare gemstones and exceptional craftsmanship.

An excellent shoe can make a great impression and a proper pair can upgrade any ensemble one wears. But that’s not all, as the most expensive shoes reveal.

Centuries ago, shoes were exclusively for protecting feet from the rough terrain; then they were upgraded and considered symbols of fashion and high fashion, according to therichest.com.

Now, the role of shoes has evolved, and are even widely considered a decent indicator of a person’s personality.

For most of the history of footwear, shoes were just a necessity for people. Now they have become items, often revealing financial status and wealth.

Brands and designers are in a constant struggle to entice their customers by developing innovative designs and selling their shoes at outrageously high prices.

These are the most expensive shoes in the world today – See how designers and brands justify their staggering prices:.

Ruby Slippers “The Wizard of Oz” by Harry Winston – $3 million

There was so much drama surrounding the Ruby Slippers worn by iconic character Dorothy Gale (played by legendary actress Judy Garland) in the beloved classic musical fantasy film “The Wizard of Oz”.

Although it is unknown how many Ruby Slippers were made for the production of the film, four original pairs exist today.

The shoes of Muntadhar Al Zaidi – $10 million

In a legendary incident, angry Iraqi journalist Muntadhar Al Zaidi threw a shoe at former President George W. Bush.

On the now historic day of 14 December 2008, at the Prime Minister’s Palace, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki and former President George W. Bush were being questioned by journalists during a routine joint press conference.

However, journalist Muntadhar Al Zaidi was in no mood to ask a question.

In what is now known as the “George Bush shoe incident”, Al Zaidi threw both his shoes at Bush:

Bush ducked and managed to escape both flying shoes.

Nuri Al Maliki tried to catch the second shoe that was thrown at Bush, but the 43rd President of the United States was very quick, dodging each shoe.

Later, the Iraqi Prime Minister and some journalists apologized to President Bush for the incident.

On the other hand, many people around the world approved of this protest and consider Muntadhar Al Zaidi as a hero for speaking truth to power.

A Saudi businessman offered $10 million for the shoes.

A Turkish manufacturer, Ramazan Baydan, is believed to have made the shoes worn by journalist Al Zaidi – the company then received 300,000 orders for the shoes in just one week.

Al Zaidi’s historic but ordinary shoes (without gemstones) consequently rated a staggering $10 million.

Debbie Wingham’s diamond high heel stilettos – $15.1 million

Some designers are engaged in creating the most expensive items to attract the world’s rich markets.

British designer Debbie Wingham is a prominent figure among them, described as the “queen of the world’s most expensive shoes”.

In 2017, Wingham showed off her mastery , showcasing her ultra-luxe stiletto heels, studded with gemstones.

Debbie Wingham’s high heels were the most expensive shoes in the world at the time, costing $15.1 million for a wealthy Dubai family.

Passion diamond shoes (Passion Jewelers x Jada Dubai) – $17 million

UAE-based brands Passion Jewelers and Jada Dubai have teamed up to produce the world’s most expensive shoes.

In 2018, these two brands presented a glimpse of Passion diamond shoes at the iconic Burj Al Dubai hotel.

There were a total of 236 diamonds in this pair, including a flawless 15-carat D diamond near the toes.

Jada Dubai and Passion Jewelers worked meticulously for nine months to create this shoe masterpiece.

Antonio Vietri’s Moonstar shoes – $19.9 million

Italian designer Antonio Vietri is another designer of expensive shoes, who unveiled his masterpiece at the Dubai Marina Hotel on October 11 of the same year.

Vietri’s Moonstar shoes, with a distinctive design and larger details, convinced the attendees that they were indeed the most expensive shoes of all time.

Antonio Vietri usually makes shoes with precious stones to attract the attention of wealthier clients, especially those from the Gulf countries.

Vietri is not new to the field and has designed many shoes with gold and diamond elements, with prices ranging from thousands to millions of dollars.

However, this time, Moonstar shoes became the most expensive shoes in the world and still hold that position in 2024.

Vietri fashioned a silver platform for the sandals with high heels of pure gold.

He designed the upper with silver and gold, creating a crown-like embellishment decorated with 30-carat diamonds.
