Eurostat: In January, inflation reached 3.2% in Greece – In the Eurozone it was 2.8%

On a European Union level, overall annual inflation was at 3.1% in January 2024, down from 3.4% in December and 10% a year earlier, according to statistics agency data

Τhe annual inflation rate in the eurozone stood at 2.8% in January 2024, down from 2.9% in December and 8.6% a year earlier.

In Greece, it was at 3.2% in January 2024, down from 3.7% in December 2023, and 7.3% in January 2023, according to data released by Eurostat.

At a structural level, excluding energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, the annual inflation rate was at 3.3% in January 2024, down from 3.4% in December and 5.3% in January 2023.

On a European Union level, overall annual inflation was at 3.1% in January 2024, down from 3.4% in December and 10% a year earlier, according to statistics agency data.

The lowest annual rates were recorded in Denmark, Italy (both 0.9%), Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland (1.1%), while the highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (7.3%), Estonia (5.0%), and Croatia (4.8%).

Compared to December, annual inflation decreased in fifteen member states, remained stable in one, and increased in eleven.

In January, the highest contribution to the annual inflation rate in the eurozone came from services (+1.73 percentage points), followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco (+1.13), non-energy industrial goods (+0.53), and energy (-0.62).
