An emeregency alarm went off in the Russian Far East city of Khabarovsk, bordering with China. Local authorities declared a state of emergency as a “source of radioactivity” has been detected, TASS news agency reported on Friday.
According to the Russian media outlet, elevated levels of radiation were detected near an electricity pylon 2.5 kilometres from residential buildings.

Same sources said that no injuries or exposure to radiation have occurred and “there is no threat to the health of citizens,” according to a statement from local authorities, which added that radiation levels will be monitored for the next two days and extensive investigations will be carried out.
As part of the investigations, the state of emergency will last for three days.
