“The vastness of the sky, the blue of the sea, the midday ochre of the sand and the vegetation offering generous shade are a series of images that have become identified with the ideal beach and come to mind when travellers say goodbye to winter,” says the popular French travel magazine Geo.fr in its first list announced ahead of this summer of the 15 best beaches in Europe that will charm the travelling public.
The list, based on recent extensive research by Lonely Planet, includes two Greek beaches.
In 11th place is the beach of Andros “Grias to Pidima”, which impresses with its shades and strange rock formations in the sea.
This is followed by “Kokkinokastro” of Alonissos in 15th place, a beautiful strip of land that crosses the exotic turquoise waters of the island and creates indelible memories for visitors.
In addition, the list includes beaches from France, Spain, Croatia, Croatia, Germany and Iceland.
“Andros is showing a new dynamic, attracting tourists outside the high tourist season. Visitor numbers for the previous three days were at a high level and especially on Carnival Monday arrivals appeared to be boosted by 40.4% compared to last year.
The island’s climate, picturesque villages, excellent services and lacy coastline bring summer earlier, offering quality but not overpriced travel experiences just two hours from Rafina.
This is also the “core” of our appeal to Greece and abroad,” says Nikos Moustakas, Councillor for Tourism of the Municipality of Andros.
“Alonnisos means relaxation on exotic beaches, local cuisine, authentic hospitality and rejuvenation through alternative activities such as sea excursions, diving and exploring nature.
Our organized effort resonates in foreign markets such as France. We are capitalizing on the new trend that encourages quality rather than standardization in travel.
It is no coincidence that the New Year found Alonissos at the top of the proposed destinations for 2024, according to Le Figaro and Die Welt,” noted the chairman of the Municipality of Alonissos Tourism Committee, Konstantinos Hlivas.
