Weather conditions are changing again as, following the snow and storms that hit several areas of Greece in the past 24 hours, temperatures are rising again, along with dust and humidity.
From today until Wednesday, meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust with increased concentrations in the atmosphere, while temperatures are gradually rising and expected to reach and exceed 30 degrees Celsius, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS).
Additionally, tomorrow in the Ionian Sea, mainland Greece (including Attica and Thessaloniki), and the northern Aegean, there will be mud showers.
Forecast for Tuesday, April 23, 2024:
In central and northern mainland Greece, and temporarily in the Ionian Sea, as well as the rest of the mainland and the northern Aegean, clouds with rain are expected. Isolated thunderstorms will occur mainly in central and northern mainland areas, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Sparse clouds, occasionally denser, are forecasted for the rest of the country. Meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust with increased concentrations in the atmosphere. Winds will be east-northeastern at 4 to 6 Beaufort in the north and northeast, and south-southeasterly at 7 to 8 Beaufort in the south. From the afternoon, they will gradually turn to northwesterly at 4 to 6 Beaufort in the west and locally 7 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea. The temperature will rise mainly in the west and south. It will reach 21 to 23 degrees Celsius in the north, 24 to 27 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country, and locally 29 to 30 degrees Celsius in northern Crete.

Clouds, occasionally increased, are expected in the west, central, and northern mainland, with a few local showers until the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms will occur in the northwest in the early morning hours and again in the nighttime. Sparse clouds, occasionally denser, are expected in the rest of the country, especially in the southern Aegean. Meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust, mainly in the east and south. Winds will blow from westerly directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort in the west, central, and northern regions, while initially from southerly directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally reaching 7 to 8 Beaufort in the eastern Aegean. However, they will quickly weaken and turn to west-southwesterly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, and in the south, they will be 5 to 6 Beaufort. There will be a slight drop in temperature in the west.
Forecast for Thursday, April 25, 2024:
Initially, clouds, occasionally increased, are forecasted in the west and gradually in the north, with local showers until the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms will occur in the west in the morning hours. Sparse clouds, temporarily denser, are expected in the rest of the country, gradually becoming generally clear. Winds will blow from westerly directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, and at sea, mainly in the south, they will be 4 to 6 Beaufort. There will be a decrease in temperature.
Forecast for Friday, April 26, 2024:
Generally clear weather is expected, and only local clouds will develop during the midday and afternoon hours in the north, accompanied by local showers or brief thunderstorms. Winds will blow from westerly directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 Beaufort in the south. From the afternoon, they will gradually turn to northwesterly with the same intensity. There will be a rise in temperature throughout the country.
