Athina Oikonomakou and Filippos Mihopoulos have separated after 10 years together.
The couple, who have two children together, have decided to go their separate ways, according to a statement sent to the media by a public relations firm.
In it, they state that they are ending their marriage and stress that their children will unite them forever.
They also make a ‘strong recommendation to the media to handle the matter with sensitivity and respect’.
The statement reads in detail:
‘After 10 years together and the acquisition of our two children, we are in the unfortunate position to announce the dissolution of our marriage.
Our children are the ones who will unite us forever and as loving parents, we will be constantly by their side with unlimited love. Their mental balance is our priority in this new chapter of our lives and we ask for your understanding in order to ensure our children’s privacy and protect them from undue publicity and attention.
For this reason, we strongly encourage the media to handle this situation with sensitivity and respect and to avoid publishing or republishing relevant news stories in order to protect their mental well-being and to ensure a smooth transition for our children to this new reality.
Thank you very much in advance for your understanding and your willingness to respect this self-evident requirement.
Yours sincerely, Philip Michopoulos and Athina Oikonomakou’
The couple married three times, in cohabitation, civil and religious marriage. Their religious wedding took place in Mykonos in the autumn of 2018, while the civil wedding took place in Gythio. They have two children together, Maximo and Sienna.
In November 2017 and shortly before Athina became a mother for the first time, the couple got married in complete secrecy with a civil wedding in Gythio. Only their family and very close friends were invited.
About a year later, they were married in a religious wedding in Mykonos, in an impressive ceremony with family and friends. The wedding took place at Philip’s luxurious hotel complex in Ornos.
