Threatening emails claiming that bombs had been placed inside the premises were received on Wednesday morning by 35 schools in Attica.
According to information, it appears to be a hoax, and the perpetrator is allegedly a Russian.
Authorities are tracking his electronic footprints.
However, there was disruption at the 144th Primary School of Athens as neither parents nor teachers were informed about what had happened.
It should be noted that an identical incident had taken place a few days ago in Cyprus.
Detailed announcement from the Hellenic Police about the threatening messages:
“This morning, a large number of schools received identical emails with threatening content.
The message appears to originate from a foreign country, and its mass dissemination, even to schools that are not operational today, indicates that its purpose is to create disruption and undermine citizens’ sense of security.
In any case, the Hellenic Police immediately mobilized to conduct the necessary checks in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the school units, and the Cybercrime Division is already investigating to identify the sender.
The safety of citizens, particularly the student community, is a primary concern and top priority for the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the Hellenic Police. All necessary actions will be taken to identify the perpetrator.”
