The shocking moment when a 20-year-old girl was swept away by raging waves amid bad weather on a beach in Sochi, Russia was captured on video by a passerby.

According to Russian media, the incident occurred on 16 June and the 20-year-old girl has not been found since then.

A young woman was swept into the open sea during a storm in Sochi, Russia

She was on the beach with her boyfriend. At one moment the waves knocked the couple off their feet. The man managed to get out, but the young woman was swept back into the sea by the current.

The video shows the girl on the beach with a boy. Although they are initially on the beach, at some point the waves cause them to lose their balance with the boy initially managing to pull the girl out of the water.

A second wave, however, covers the two young men with the boy further out towards the beach, while the girl drifts away and is lost in the water.

Russian media report that although there was a mobilization of the Emergency Ministry services, the 20-year-old girl has not been located to date.

In fact, they note, on the day in question, 16 June, the beaches in Sochi were closed due to bad weather in the area.
