In a full reset of the “Blue Homeland” Turkey released yesterday NAVTEX about the work of a cable-laying ship in a large area south of Rhodes and east of Crete within the potential Greek continental shelf, stating that this is an area of the “Turkish continental shelf”

This area has been unilaterally and arbitrarily declared to the UNwith the well-known Turkish letters as the Turkish EEZ causing tension in relations with Greece as it illegally overlaps a large part of the Greek continental shelf and follows the line of the Turkish-Cypriot Memorandum.

Türkiye on Monday afternoon issued NAVTEX (0592/24) with which it is blocking the area for the laying of a cable from the C/S Teliri for the period from July 1-21, noting that the area is within the Turkish continental shelf.
C/S Teliri is reportedly laying a communications cable (Cable Blue System) that will connect Cyprus with Italy and France as well as Israel on behalf of a private company.

The Greek authorities shortly after midnight yesterday issued a NAVTEX (NAVWARN 576/24) announcing the installation of a submarine cable by C/S Teliri for the period from 25 June to 23 July, mapping the area that falls within the Greek NAVTEX area, noting that these areas fall within the Greek Continental Shelf.

It is questionable whether the company that manages the C/S Teliri has asked in order to avoid problems permission from Turkey for the research in this area that it claims arbitrarily from Greece, so the Turkish NAVTEX was issued.

However, it is characteristic that Turkey yesterday issued another NAVTEX in which it stood against Cyprus, stating that the Cypriot announcement for the work of C/S Teliri in the Cypriot EEZ (June 22 to July 3) was issued by an unauthorized station as Turkey does not recognize, among other things, neither the delimitation of the Cypriot EEZ nor the area of responsibility of the Larnaca Station (JRCC LARNACA) for the issuance of Navtex.
