Princess Anne, the younger sister of King Charles, has been discharged from hospital, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday, after a five-night stay due to a head injury believed to have been caused by a horse.
The palace said the 73-year-old only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth has returned to her home at Gatcombe Park in southwest England and will recover there and return to public duties when her medical team allows.
“I would like to express my warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care and kindness during my wife’s short stay,” said her husband Sir Timothy Lawrence. Princess Anne was injured on Sunday while walking around the grounds of her estate. There were horses in the area at the time of the incident and her medical team said the head injuries were consistent with being hit by a horse’s head or feet.
