Georgia Adilini, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, has called for an investigation into organised crime activities on Mykonos, other Cyclades islands, and even in Athens and Thessaloniki. This directive was given to the deputy prosecutor of the Athens Appeals Court, who oversees the Attica Security Directorate in the prosecution of organised crime, and the President of the Council for the Coordination of Analysis and Investigations at the Ministry of Citizen Protection.

The catalyst for Adilini’s order was the recent murder of a surveyor in Psychiko.

In her directive, Adilini stated:

“The recent murder of P. S., a surveyor engineer, in Psychiko underscores the urgent need to address the severe criminality on Mykonos, often referred to by the press as the ‘Mykonos Mafia’. This requires the activation and use of the state’s appropriate mechanisms. From the attached press reports and the report dated 8/7/2024 from a Mykonos resident, submitted to the Cybercrime Department and forwarded to us by the Attica Security Department on 9/7/2024, it is evident that there is a need to investigate serious crimes potentially constituting organised crime. These include the formation and management of criminal organisations, felony extortion linked to construction activities, real estate transactions, business ‘protection’ schemes, homicides, serious bodily harm, money laundering, violations of urban planning laws, antiquities protection laws, environmental regulations, drug trafficking, forgery, and more. This criminal activity is not confined to Mykonos but extends to other Cyclades islands, as well as Athens and Thessaloniki.

In light of this, please initiate legal actions, including exercising your independent right to conduct a preliminary examination or investigation (Article 4(3) of Law 2265/1994, as amended), in cooperation with the Attica Security Department. Utilise all available procedural tools (lifting of telephone confidentiality, conducting searches, special investigative measures, etc.) to combat this criminal activity and restore law and order.

Finally, please keep the competent Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court informed about the progress of your investigations.”
