The country’s heat stress continues today, Sunday, with the mercury not dropping below 30 degrees in most areas for the 14th consecutive day.
Temperatures will reach or even exceed 40 degrees on the mainland, while a break is expected areas in the mountains of eastern Macedonia and Thrace, where local showers and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon.
According to the update of the EMS emergency bulletin, very high temperatures with maximum values locally above 40 degrees Celsius will persist until Monday.
From Tuesday there will be a gradual decline in temperatures, both in terms of maximum and minimum values, which will be felt in the middle of next week in most areas.
Overall, on Sunday the weather will be clear in most of the country, while in the midday and afternoon hours there will be some clouds on the mainland and local rain and isolated thunderstorms in the mountains of eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Winds will blow from the north from 3 to 5 Beaufort.
The temperature will not change significantly and will reach:
a. 38 to 39 degrees Celsius in the northern mainland, 39 to 40 and locally 41 degrees Celsius in the rest of the mainland.
β. In the islands of the Eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.
c. In the rest of the island country 34 to 37 degrees Celsius.
d. 39 to 40 degrees Celsius in Attica and 38 degrees Celsius in the prefecture of Thessaloniki.
