However, from Friday, a gradual weakening of the winds and a gradual rise in temperature is forecast, which at the weekend will once again reach the 40 degrees level in some places on the mainland. At the same time, instability will also increase, with local showers or isolated thunderstorms mainly on Sunday in the central and northern continental highlands.

The map below shows the estimated wind gusts from the model of meteo.gr / National Observatory of Athens expected in the afternoon hours of Wednesday 31/07, which are expected to exceed 60-70 km/h and in some places 80-90 km/h in areas of Southern Evia, Cyclades and Southern Crete.

Generally clear weather over most of the country. Local clouds with a chance of light showers are expected in the morning in the southern part of central Macedonia and eastern Thessaly and at noon in the southwestern Peloponnese.
Winds will blow in the west east southeast at 3 to 5 Beaufort, becoming northwest in the afternoon with the same intensity and in the east from northern directions at 4 to 6 and in the Aegean up to 7 Beaufort
The temperature will drop slightly and will reach 35 to 36 degrees Celsius on the mainland and 37 degrees Celsius locally in the west, 32 to 34 degrees Celsius on the East Aegean islands, the Dodecanese and southern Crete and 28 to 31 degrees Celsius in the rest of the Greek islands.
