The Minister of National Defense posted a message on social media today to mark the anniversary of the start of the second phase of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

“50 years since the second phase of the ‘Attila’ invasion, we stand by the Republic of Cyprus. We honor our Greek and Cypriot brothers who fell in the line of duty, the missing persons, and those who defended the island’s freedom. We do not forget.

We continue to support the effort for a just and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue, while also reminding the international community that this is primarily an issue of the occupation of an independent state and an EU member state,” Nikos Dendias wrote on his personal account on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
