Director Pablo Larraín expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “I am thrilled to work again with the Netflix team, who care so passionately about films. This movie is my most personal work to date. It’s a creative and psychological portrait of Maria Callas, who, after dedicating her life to performing for audiences around the world, finally decides to find her own voice, her own identity, and sing for herself. It’s a great honor to tell this story and share it with audiences worldwide, just as Maria did with her life.”
The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 29 and will be released on Netflix later this year.
