Intense lightning activity was observed in many parts of the country on Tuesday night, as the severe weather Atena swept through the regions, including Attica.
Heavy rain and localized hail were the main features of the storm.
In fact, the emergency number 112 was activated several times on Tuesday in Patras, Igoumenitsa, and Megalopolis, advising residents to limit their travel.
“Dangerous weather phenomena expected until noon on 10/9. Limit your travel and follow the authorities’ instructions,” the message read.
Euboea experienced a similar situation, with lightning continuously flashing across the night sky. The map below illustrates the electrical activity that had accumulated south of the island.
