Hezbollah – Reuters: Over 1,500 members blinded or amputated by attacks with bombers

The Shia organization of Lebanon reportedly has 40,000 to 50,000 fighters, while Nasrallah has stated that Hezbollah has 100,000

In a shocking admission, Hezbollah officials revealed the extent of targeted attacks involving bombers, which resulted in the deaths of dozens and the injury of thousands.

According to Reuters, a source from the organization stated that over 1,500 fighters have been rendered inactive, either blinded or with amputated limbs due to these attacks. However, this represents only a small portion of Hezbollah’s strength, which is estimated to be between 40,000 to 50,000 fighters, while Nasrallah has claimed the group’s total force stands at 100,000.

The attacks, attributed to Israel—although Tel Aviv has not claimed responsibility—included the elimination of top officials, such as Ibrahim Akil, founder and leader of the elite Radwan force, and the destruction of thousands of rockets and shells, significantly impacting Hezbollah. Nevertheless, according to sources, the group swiftly replaced its lost leaders, with Nasrallah stating that these losses do not halt the organization’s operations.

Since October, when Hezbollah began attacking Israel in support of Hamas in Gaza, the organization has deployed fighters to Lebanon’s southern borders and rapidly bolstered its missile stockpile, preparing for prolonged conflict. While Hezbollah is avoiding a full-scale war, it continues to receive significant support from Iran, its primary weapons supplier.

Despite the pressure, Hezbollah’s organizational structure makes it one of Israel’s most formidable adversaries, not because of its technology or numbers but due to its ability to recover and continue operations, as experts like Andreas Krieg, a lecturer at King’s College London, point out.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced today that it is conducting “wide-scale” strikes in southern Lebanon, just hours after reporting the interception of a missile launched by Hezbollah against Tel Aviv. “The military is currently conducting wide-scale strikes in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa region (east). Further details will follow,” the Israeli armed forces noted.

Lebanese state media reported that the village of Maaisra in the mountainous Keserwan province, where the majority of residents are Christian, was hit.

At least three people were killed in this attack, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health. “The Israeli army strike on the village of Maaisra in Keserwan province resulted in the death of three people and the injury of nine others,” the ministry stated.
