According to the latest update from the Fire Service, the fire is advancing toward the settlement of Pyrgos. A total of 208 firefighters with 59 vehicles are involved in the major firefighting effort, with 19 aircraft, including six helicopters and 13 planes, conducting water drops.
A second 112 evacuation alert was sent just before 18:00 to residents of the Pyrgos area in Corinthia, advising them to evacuate towards Zacholi due to the ongoing wildfire.
Specifically, the message states: “If you are in the Pyrgos area of Corinthia, evacuate towards Zacholi. Follow the authorities’ instructions.”
An earlier 112 alert had also been sent to those in the wider Rozena area, advising them to remain on standby due to the ongoing wildfire. The message stated: “Forest fire in the wider Rozena area, Corinthia. Stay on alert. Follow the authorities’ instructions.”
According to the Fire Service, wind intensity at the scene has increased, with strong gusts complicating firefighting efforts. Additionally, the rugged terrain of the area is making it difficult for ground forces to access, further hindering the firefighting operations.
