Detailed Announcement from the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA
Announcement P.G. SYRIZA – PS 8/10/2024
- Today, the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance met to advance the process regarding the nominations for the presidential election, as well as to publish the financial disclosures of the candidates, as stipulated by the decisions of the Central Committee.
- Therefore, leaks regarding the financial disclosures of any candidate are meaningless, are entirely condemnable, and have no connection whatsoever to the Secretary of the Central Committee or to the Political Secretariat and the party’s bodies.
Any claims to the contrary aim to create artificial tension and do not reflect reality.
The act of sending a legal notice against the party’s bodies by the former president is unprecedented and is being returned as unacceptable.
- It should be noted that in the Central Committee’s decision of September 21, 2024, the submission of financial disclosures is a requirement for all candidates, which will be made public on the SYRIZA-PS website. It emphasizes that “it is imperative to demonstrate in practice, not just in words, that neither our party nor our members have anything to hide.” Consequently, the submission of the necessary signatures, along with a copy of the financial disclosure, constitutes explicit consent for its publication on the website.
The Political Secretariat is convening an extraordinary meeting of the Central Committee on Saturday, October 12, 2024, following recent developments, to proceed in an orderly manner with the required processes for the election of a President.
