Israel‘s security council meets tonight, with local media reporting that ministers will be asked to agree on their country’s “response” to last week’s Iranian missile attack.
In previous meetings, the cabinet was simply asked to authorize Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galland to make the decision themselves based on consultations with other security officials about the field strikes.
Yesterday, the Times of Israel reported that in an hour-long security meeting at the “Kirya” military headquarters in Tel Aviv on Tuesday night, the Benjamin Netanyahu reached important decisions – along with his top ministers, security and military officials – on the impending attack on Iran.
The newspaper reported, citing a government source, that the focus is on Iranian military facilities, but that could change.
Remembering that Iran launched some 200 ballistic missiles last week, Israel wants to respond forcefully.
Officials stressed to public broadcaster Kan that the meeting held “a decisive discussion on the Iranian issue.”
