41,900 substitute teachers were approved for hiring this year by the Ministry of Education

Last year, during the 2023-2024 school year, a total of 52,263 substitute teachers were hired - Here's how the situation stands

So far, 37,976 substitute teachers have been hired. Additionally, approval has been granted for the hiring of a total of 41,900 substitute teachers, with the possibility of expansion if necessary, according to sources from the Ministry of Education.

The number of substitute teachers hired so far is 37,976. Furthermore, sources from the Ministry of Education state that 41,900 substitute teacher hires have been approved, a number that may increase if needed.

It should be noted that last year, during the 2023-2024 school year, a total of 52,263 substitute teachers were hired, including those in General Education, Special Education, and members of the EEP (Special Education Staff) and EBP (Special Support Staff).

Substitute teacher hires are made according to declared operational vacancies, and the placement of hired substitutes in schools within their hiring region is decided by the respective Director of Education.

Finally, if there are any remaining unfilled operational vacancies in schools after each hiring phase, the Directors of Education assess and prioritize the necessity of filling each one.
