A significant temperature drop of 5 to 6 degrees and strong northerly winds in the Aegean are the key features of the weather from today, lasting over the next few days.
Meteorologists report that the “Omega Tempest” system is creating ideal conditions for the northerly winds to strengthen, with gusts reaching 6 to 7, and even up to 8 on the Beaufort scale in some areas. This system is also bringing cold air from eastern and northeastern Europe, causing temperatures to fall to around 20 to 23 degrees. Expect chilly weather, especially in central and northern Greece.
Thodoros Kolydas, director of the National Meteorological Service, confirmed that no significant rain is expected. He commented, “Hope for rain and snow is slim. The only certainty is a drop in temperature and gusty winds in some areas.” He added that snow is almost non-existent, even in high-altitude areas like Kaimaktsalan, with only minimal precipitation expected above 2,000 meters.
Strong winds are expected to intensify across parts of the Aegean, with speeds exceeding 90 km/h, particularly in the Northern Cyclades, the East Aegean islands (Samos, Ikaria), the Sea of Kythera, and southern Crete.
