Dozens of rockets were launched shortly after 1:00 PM by Hezbollah from Southern Lebanon, targeting central Israel, specifically Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv.
Due to the Hezbollah rockets, all departures from the airport were suspended for security reasons, including that of the U.S. Secretary of State, who, having completed another round of discussions to find a “golden” compromise for a ceasefire in Gaza, was preparing to depart for Saudi Arabia.
At the moment the alarm sirens sounded, Anthony Blinken was led to a special armored building at the airport, where he and his team waited for the barrage and interceptions to end in order to board the U.S. government aircraft and depart.
Anthony Blinken’s flight has departed from Israel without any issues. It is noted that this is not the first time in the past year that the head of American diplomacy has experienced a similar situation. During his second and fourth visits to Israel nine months ago—this being his ninth visit to Israel in the past year—he encountered the same situation with rockets during that period from Hamas.
