Whether Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office was briefed hours before Hamas attacks on Israeli territory began on October 7, 2023 has recently come back to the forefront in Israel.
A detailed report by journalist, Ronen Bergman, who writes for Israel’s largest circulating newspaper – Yediot Ahronot – and also the New York Times has opened a new file of investigation into whether Benjamin Netanyahu personally had knowledge of what followed the Hamas attack and Black Sabbath massacre several hours before it materialized.
According to the sources cited by the Israeli journalist, the military high command reportedly contacted Netanyahu’s entourage (it is not specified whether he personally became aware) hours before the attack began and informed him that several mobile phone cards (SIM) of Israeli networks were activated simultaneously inside the Gaza Strip. These cards had reportedly reached the hands of Hamas through moves by both the anti-terrorism service and Israel’s intelligence services as an extra measure of protection… In common, the secret services sold Israeli mobile network cards to Hamas as their activation would signal to Tel Aviv of suspicious – dangerous activity.
Hamas shortly before launching its invasion of Israeli territory gave the cards to its members – mainly the Qassam Brigades – who killed more than 1,000 people and kidnapped more than 200 – who activated them before invading to record their work and post it on social media. Local mobile network cards in Gaza have no signal in Israel.
According to the Israeli journalist, this particular activity mobilized a special army unit that not only recorded it but also proceeded to inform the Prime Minister’s Office as per the protocol. The investigation file that has been opened also includes a case of blackmail of a senior army official who is alleged to be the person who made the communication.
It is worth noting that for over a year since the deadliest act of terrorism Israel has experienced on its soil, Prime Minister Netanyahu has openly and publicly denied that he was aware and informed of what was to follow before the Hamas attack. Benjamin Netanyahu has made radical changes in both the intelligence services and the military over the past year, citing major responsibilities. This report brought a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office which called it “yet another fiction.”
