On Friday, November 15, 2024, at 8:00 PM, METApolis’ photography group, celebrating its 15th anniversary, will open the group exhibition titled “Mon Afrique: Uganda | Bonds of Humanity” at the welcoming space of Blank Wall Gallery.

The Concept:

Twelve strangers embark on a journey to an unknown destination. Their common link is a teacher returning to places filled with memories and people brimming with life. “The most significant thing about travel isn’t just seeing new places but changing the way we perceive the world each time we encounter something new.”

Uganda, Africa

You arrive. You are surprised. You unconsciously smile.

You wake up and listen. You observe and take in the surroundings. You think and realize.

Prejudices, ideas, images, and contrasts… all gathered in our hands. Captured by the eyes, soul, and heart.

You feel like an outsider, but you aren’t. The place embraces you, eyes smile at you, fingers touch you.

You feel different, but you aren’t. Kindness grounds you, acceptance warms you, authenticity welcomes you.

You feel privileged, but you aren’t. Generosity overwhelms you, simplicity satisfies you, the rhythm shakes you.

Uganda, what a diamond you are!

What you have given us, and what you have taken… How you have changed us, and how you have discovered us.

Are soul journeys real?

You certainly exist. And so does Africa.

If you are lucky enough to experience this encounter, rest assured that the connection will be equally magical. Uganda will be your own soulful journey.

As you look at the images of people who started as strangers, don’t leave without also seeing how they now share pieces of their mind, heart, and soul. They now share, forever, their own Africa.

“If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.”

Join us on this journey…
